ACROSS THE EMPIRE
|
SpaceX first public results: the numbers
SpaceX reported Q2 revenue of $7.8 billion, up 92% from $4.1 billion a year earlier. The print beat consensus estimates that had clustered near $6.8–6.9 billion. Net loss narrowed to $541 million from $1.0 billion. Adjusted EBITDA reached $3.5 billion, up 191%.
Connectivity (Starlink) delivered $4.3 billion in revenue (+66%) and $1.66 billion in operating income (+79%). Subscribers reached 12 million at quarter end, double the year-ago figure, with a sequential gain of 1.7 million. AI segment revenue hit $2.56 billion. Space segment revenue was $962 million.
Why this matters: The first public scorecard shows extreme vertical integration working in the numbers. Connectivity is the profit engine. AI is scaling fast. Losses are narrower even while the company spends heavily on the next layer of capability.

|
Starlink and the rest of the stack
Beyond the subscriber count, SpaceX closed multiple cloud-services agreements totaling $14.1 billion in contracted sales. It also announced an agreement to acquire Cursor for $60 billion to accelerate the AI enterprise opportunity, and noted more than $6 billion in multi-year U.S. government Starshield contracts.
Two successful Starship V3 flight tests in the past 90 days were highlighted as progress toward full and rapid reusability.
Why this matters: The earnings release is not only a Starlink story. It ties the connectivity cash engine to contracted AI demand, government work, and the next generation of launch hardware.
|
|
Starmind and Nvidia for orbital compute
SpaceX announced a partnership with Nvidia to design the Starmind AI1 satellite compute payload. Each of the Starmind satellites will include NVIDIA Rubin GPUs and Vera CPUs for datacenter-class space compute.
The move continues the push to put serious AI capacity in orbit rather than only on the ground.
Why this matters: Orbital compute is no longer a slide. Hardware partners and named satellite designs make the timeline more concrete.
|
|
Two Falcon 9 flights in the window
On August 4, Falcon 9 launched 24 Starlink satellites from California and confirmed deployment. This morning SpaceX flew another Falcon 9 carrying the AST SpaceMobile BlueBird 11-13 mission. The first stage landed successfully on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship.
The cadence continues even on earnings week.
Why this matters: Launch reliability and frequency are the foundation under every other story—Starlink growth, Starship progress, and future orbital compute.

Grok Build remains the recommended path
Elon again pointed users toward the Grok Build harness as the best way to use the model, linking the CLI. Separate posts highlighted Imagine for bringing ideas to life with reference consistency.
The agent and creative tools keep receiving public emphasis alongside the larger company numbers.
Why this matters: The public company scoreboard and the daily product surface both matter. One sets expectations. The other is what people actually use.

THE MAIN EVENT
|
THE SCOREBOARD IS LIVE
Revenue nearly doubled. Subscribers doubled. Losses narrowed. Capex stays high.
SpaceX’s first public earnings print delivered the numbers the market had been waiting for. Revenue of $7.8 billion almost doubled year-over-year. Starlink reached 12 million subscribers. Connectivity profits rose sharply. AI revenue jumped. The operating loss narrowed even while the company continued heavy investment.
The same release tied the connectivity engine to $14.1 billion in contracted cloud sales, a $60 billion Cursor agreement, multi-year Starshield awards, and two recent Starship V3 flight tests. A separate announcement put Nvidia hardware on the Starmind AI1 orbital compute design.
While the numbers were being digested, Falcon 9 kept flying—Starlink from California on the 4th and the BlueBird mission this morning with a successful droneship landing.
Capex remains elevated, especially on the AI side. That is the trade the company is making in public view for the first time: spend aggressively now, grow the revenue base and the capability base at the same time.
My take: The private-company era is over. The first public scoreboard shows a business that is scaling revenue fast, still investing hard, and keeping the operational cadence high. The next several quarters will test whether that combination holds.

THE TROLL REPORT
|
🧌 “They still lost money.”
The loss narrowed by hundreds of millions while revenue nearly doubled and adjusted EBITDA more than doubled. The trajectory is what the print shows.
|
|
🧌 “Capex is insane.”
Yes. The company is spending heavily on AI and the next layer of hardware. The same release shows AI revenue already scaling and contracted cloud sales in the tens of billions. That is the bet being made in public.
