Semi high-volume production is live
Tesla Semi posted “Semi is here” and announced the start of high-volume production. The dedicated factory in Sparks is 1.8 million square feet and designed for 50,000 units per year. Standard, Long Range, and European-spec variants share the same line.
Elon amplified the factory video with a simple label: “Tesla Semi Factory.” Early customers including PepsiCo, DHL, and US Foods are already receiving trucks.
Why this matters: After years of limited production, volume capacity changes the economics of electric freight. A purpose-built plant at this scale is the difference between a demo and a real product line.

Starship launch rehearsal complete
SpaceX finished the launch rehearsal for Flight 14. Propellant loading and launch-day procedures were run without engine ignition. The vehicle remains stacked at Starbase.
Elon posted a stainless-steel image and wrote: “Starship is magnificent.” The public target is still Monday, September 28, pending regulatory approval.
Why this matters: A completed wet dress rehearsal is one of the last major pad tests before an attempt. Combined with the stack already on the pad, the path to Monday is clearer than it has been for any previous orbital try.

Google TPUs hitch a ride on SpaceX
Sundar Pichai announced Project Suncatcher: Google is sending a prototype satellite with TPUs on SpaceX’s Transporter-18 mission to test whether the chips can survive and operate in space. Elon replied with rocket emojis.
Why this matters: Compute in orbit is no longer just a concept. When major chip and cloud players start flying hardware on SpaceX rideshares, the infrastructure layer for space-based AI begins to form.

Elon amplified a post about NGO funding for homelessness and added a sharp clarification: the word “homeless” is often used for people who are severely mentally ill or addicted. He argued that incentives currently reward managing the problem rather than solving it, and that asylums are needed for those who are a danger to themselves or others.
Why this matters: The take is first-principles. If funding rises with the number of people managed, the system has no incentive to reduce the number. Outcomes follow the incentives.

I opened the feed and the first clear signal was simple: “Semi is here.” Tesla’s dedicated truck factory is now running high-volume production. Fifty thousand units per year capacity. One point eight million square feet. All variants on a single line. Elon just labeled the video “Tesla Semi Factory.”
At the same time SpaceX finished the launch rehearsal for Flight 14. The stack stayed on the pad. Elon posted a stainless-steel image and wrote that Starship is magnificent. Monday remains the target for the first planned orbital attempt and the first operational Starlink V3 deployment from Starship.
Two different frontiers moved in the same cycle. One is a heavy truck finally built at scale. The other is a vehicle designed to reach orbit and keep going. Both are now past the demonstration phase.
My take: Volume production is the real test for the Semi. A completed dress rehearsal is the real test for Flight 14. The next few days will show whether both hold.
