Prufrock builds the rings by itself
The Boring Company showed Prufrock placing tunnel rings fully autonomously. Six concrete segments—each about 3,750 pounds, roughly the weight of a Tesla Model 3—are lifted, moved, and locked into final position with millimeter precision in under a minute. The process is monitored remotely from the Global Operations Control Center in Texas.
Elon amplified the update simply as “Boring upgrades.”
Why this matters: Ring erection is one of the most precision-critical and labor-heavy steps in conventional tunneling. Doing it autonomously, at speed, with no one in the machine, removes a major bottleneck and enables continuous operation without shift changes or on-site crew fatigue limits.

Falcon 9 adds 24 more Starlinks
SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 from California carrying 24 Starlink satellites. Deployment of all 24 was confirmed shortly after.
Routine cadence continues while the next generation of satellites and the vehicles that will carry them keep advancing.
Why this matters: Each successful Falcon 9 flight keeps the current constellation growing while Starship and V3 satellites prepare the larger capacity jump.

The non-speculative bandwidth case
Elon drew a clear line between aspirational statements and hard projections. What is not speculative, he said, is that V3 satellites launched on Starship will be an order of magnitude more capable than the V2 satellites currently flying on Falcon. An order of magnitude more of those V3 (and later) satellites, plus direct-to-cell birds, will also be launched.
That combination points to more than 100 times the bandwidth of the current V2 system. The V2 system itself is on track for roughly $20 billion in annual recurring revenue this year. Even if revenue per gigabit falls by a factor of ten, communications revenue could still exceed $200 billion a year.
Why this matters: The math is deliberately conservative on price and aggressive on volume and capability. It frames Starlink less as a niche broadband play and more as a core communications infrastructure business at scale.

Prufrock can now erect a full tunnel ring without human hands on the machine. Six heavy concrete segments move into place with millimeter accuracy in less than a minute. The entire sequence is watched from the Global OCC in Texas. That is the kind of autonomy that turns a tunnel from a slow, labor-intensive project into something that can run continuously.
At the same time another Falcon 9 lifted 24 Starlink satellites from California and confirmed deployment. The current constellation keeps growing on the vehicle that already works while the next generation prepares to multiply capacity.
Elon separated the speculative from the concrete. V3 satellites on Starship will be roughly ten times more capable than today’s V2 birds. Far more of them will fly, along with direct-to-cell satellites. The result, he said, is more than 100 times the bandwidth of the V2 system that is already heading toward $20 billion in annual recurring revenue. Even after a tenfold drop in revenue per gigabit, the communications business could still clear $200 billion a year.
The pattern is consistent: remove human limits underground, keep launching the current generation, and design the next generation for an order-of-magnitude jump in what the network can carry.
My take: Autonomy in the tunnel and capacity in orbit are both bottlenecks that used to look structural. The last 24 hours showed progress on both at once.
