ACROSS THE EMPIRE
Megapack 3 production has started
Tesla Megapack announced that Megapack 3 is officially rolling off the line at the newest Megafactory in Brookshire, Texas. The factory went from groundbreaking to operation in 16 months and is designed for 50 GWh per year of Megapack 3 capacity.
Elon replied: “Megapack 3 starting production. Congrats Tesla Megapack team!”
Why this matters: Energy storage is the quiet backbone for both grid stability and the AI compute build-out. Getting a new product and a new factory into production in under a year and a half is the kind of execution that compounds.
Two Prufrocks mining side by side in Nashville
The Boring Company posted that Prufrock-MB1 and Prufrock-MB2 are mining at the same time in Nashville. The tunnels are side-by-side and currently separated by about 20 feet laterally. Video of both machines working accompanied the update.
Parallel machines mean faster progress on the network rather than sequential single-tunnel work.
Why this matters: Tunnel boring is only as fast as the machines and the coordination between them. Running two at once in the same corridor is a clear step toward higher throughput on city projects.
SpaceX on a rare lunar impact
SpaceX posted context on a Falcon 9 second stage from a January 2025 lunar-transfer mission that eventually impacted the Moon after solar activity and gravity shifted its path. For high-energy missions a controlled disposal is not always possible. The company worked with NASA on the optimal approach and noted that impacts of this type are rare.
The longer-term answer remains Starship: fully reusable vehicles that eliminate expendable upper stages.
Why this matters: Transparency on edge cases builds credibility. The post also keeps the focus on the architectural fix—reusability that removes the leftover stage problem entirely.
After the first public print
The market continues to digest SpaceX’s debut quarterly results. Revenue nearly doubled, Starlink subscribers reached 12 million, and AI revenue jumped, while capital spending remained elevated. Share moves have been volatile in the days since.
Meanwhile the operating companies keep shipping concrete progress: a new battery product line, parallel tunnel machines, and ongoing launch activity.
Why this matters: Public markets react to the scoreboard. The companies still have to deliver the next units, the next tunnels, and the next flights. Both layers are visible at once.
Grok in the creative tools
Elon amplified examples of Grok working inside Blender and continued to point users toward the Build harness as the preferred way to use the model.
The agent surface keeps expanding into the tools people already use for making things.
Why this matters: Integration into existing creative software is how an AI stops being a separate destination and becomes part of the workflow.
THE MAIN EVENT
FACTORIES AND TUNNELS
New battery production. Parallel machines underground.
While the market keeps parsing SpaceX’s first public numbers, the rest of the empire is shipping physical progress. Megapack 3 is now coming off the line at the Brookshire Megafactory. Sixteen months from groundbreaking to operation. Designed capacity of 50 GWh per year dedicated to the new product.
In Nashville the Boring Company has two Prufrock machines working at the same time. The tunnels sit roughly 20 feet apart. Parallel boring is the difference between a single slow advance and a real construction rate.
SpaceX also addressed a rare case of an older second stage that eventually reached the Moon, explaining the physics and the limits of controlled disposal on high-energy missions. The longer-term fix remains the fully reusable architecture of Starship.
The pattern is consistent. Big public numbers arrive. Then the factories and the machines keep moving.
My take: Energy storage and tunnel progress do not make the same noise as an earnings print. They are the infrastructure that has to exist for the larger ambitions to work. Both are advancing.

THE TROLL REPORT
🧌 “Just another factory announcement.”
Sixteen months from dirt to product on a new Megapack generation is not routine. Capacity at 50 GWh per year for the new design is the scale that matters for grid and compute power.
🧌 “Two machines in Nashville. So what?”
One machine is progress. Two machines working the same corridor at the same time is a rate change. That is how networks get built faster.
